The capital of Scotland is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It is distinguished by its natural beauty having been built upon a jumble of hills and valleys. After distinguished architects worked on the city's outlook in the 18th and 19th century, you will find many spots where it resembles more of a dramatic setting than a city.
Edinburgh is known for her dramatic beauty which has made its name familiar the world over. For example, when you have a view from Edinburgh's Calton Hill, the scenery resembles more of a setting from ancient Rome. It is a gracious place where the past mingles comfortably with the present and Edinburgh tours delight the mind as well as the eye.
The most distinguishing and visited landmark of Edinburgh is the Edinburgh castle. It is visible for miles around. One must watch the sunset from Calton Hill which is Edinburgh's main hill in the city centre. One can visit the top of Calton Hill on any day to enjoy its grassy slopes and panoramic views. Edinburgh has its fair share of galleries and museums which are attractions in their own right. Prominent among them are 'Edinburgh City Art Centre', 'Edinburgh College of Art', 'National Galleries of Scotland', and 'Museum of Scotland'.
A walk in an Edinburgh park is ideal if you want to escape to a calm and peaceful environment. 'Princess Street Gardens', 'The Meadows', 'Holyrood Park', and 'Botanic Gardens' are the chief parks if you are looking for a perfect place to while away a sunny afternoon. |
